Further to my earlier post about my brother’s birthday pressie, the trip to Silverstone went ahead yesterday.
I was only a spectator, along with mum, dad, sister and sister’s partner. The Ferraris went around the South Circuit, down Hangar Straight and through Stowe Corner, Vale, Club Corner, Abbey Curve, Ireland, Becketts Corner and Chapel Curve three times.
The weather was lovely and sunny and a good time was had by all. I’ll post some photos to the photo albums section of the site soon.

Having seen a colleague’s aquarium and those at my local fish shop, and doing a bit of research, I decided to get my own tank for the sitting room and start to look after some tropical fish.
I ended up buying a Fluval Uno 800 Aquarium, measuring 80×30x40cm (internal volume approx 75 litres) which came as a kit of parts so I got the heater, filter etc with it.
Tank all set up and settled in, I bought six little Zebra Danios on Saturday. Will allow the filter etc to get used to the new additions for a few weeks before buying any more fish.

I received a letter from the Environment Agency Wales last week. Well, actually it was addressed to someone who used to live here over 4 years ago, before I bought the flat!
On the envelope it said “Your property is at risk from flooding.” In a sort of Ostrich (ignore it and it’ll go away) kind of mentality I didn’t open the envelope; I marked it “Not known at this address - return to sender” and bunged it back in the post.
Today I received another one “Please take time to read this. It is very important“. Anyway I opened it and the letter was encouraging me (well Anna-Marie somebody or other to be slightly more accurate) to register for a free ‘advance warning of flooding’ service. Apparently, a serious flood can devastate my home. Now, I live in a first floor flat so it’s going to have be a very serious flood me thinks, but I thought I may as well ring the number and get their mailing list details changed if nothing else.
The lady at the Environment Agency was not at all phased by the height off the ground of my property, and pointed out to me that parking, access to the front door and failure of the electricity supply may all be relevant concerns in the event of a flood. She updated their records and I’m now going to receive telephone warnings of impending floods anytime 24 hours a day. On their map for my postcode, the chance of flooding each year is only moderate, i.e., 1.3% (1 in 75) or less, but greater than 0.5% (1 in 200).
See Environment Agency Floodline for more info.
OK, so where do you buy sandbags from? - it’s been raining most of today.

Yeah, a win! 3-0 in fact. More on the subs bench (not that we have a bench but you know what I mean) this evening meant it was possible for players to come on and off so fatigue issues were alleviated (with the exception of goalie Geoff who had to stay within his little semi-circles of cones for the duration of the game.
Oooh listen to me, anyone would think I knew all about football. I’ll soon be going with team captain Chesh to see HUFC play at this rate, lol.

I spent the day in MK today with J as it was his 50th birthday. Had a nice meal at the Old Green Man - Country Pub & Restaurant in Little Brickhill.
I contributed to the cost of a family pressie for him to have 3 laps of the Silverstone race circuit in a Ferrari. Looks like it’s gonna be a date in September and I’m looking forward to being a spectator.
